Also if you have issues with low performance, as in the vidios don't work properly, or the menu screen crawls, or the fps in-game drops alot, then you might want to try using this.

Note: This does stop all online actions, including multiplayer.

1. Install the game.

2. Run the game and let it update. Or download the update and install it manually:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9853UJN2
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/fd8yN-dH/ac_brotherhood_102_updateexe.html2

3. Its a Dos game and Dosbox annoys me, so I set about finding a way to play it without it. After alot of messing around I got it to install and play. So heres how to do that. Note: I have only done this on XP, so if you're using any other system this might not work.

1. Download and install VDM Sound
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7ZX4EJIY
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/VXECO6KI/VDMSound.html

2. Insert the cd, hold down the shift key to stop it from autorunning the setup program.

3. Manually open the cd (right-click cd drive and click open or explore).

4. Right-click the install.exe and click run with VDMS.

5. Keep the install location as-is (C:/GW), and press enter. After this it will ask for your sound card. Select the Sound Blaster 16, or Sound Blaster AWE 32 and then select detect hardware. It should find something. Test the sound, and if all is working select Sound is ok and press anter.

The game is now installed.

To play:

1. Go the the install folder (C:\GW), right-click the gw.exe and set the compatibility to Windows 95.

2. Open Command Prompt, and click to maximize the window (even if it doesn't change size, it is important oddly enough)

3. Type in the following lines (pressing enter after each, the last one starts the game)

cd C:\Program Files\VDMSound
command
dosdrv
mscdexnt
dosx
cd C:\GW
gw

Alternatively you can download this batch file that does all of the above, so you don't have to type it every time. Just unzip and run the game using the batch file.
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5C71E66U
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/VFF5Tk8J/GWbatch.html

Infernal Missing PhysX Error Fix

If you've installed a game recently that uses the newer PhysX, like I just did, you might notice that Infernal suddenly thinks that PhysX isn't installed. It installs if you're lucky, but never starts and refuses to patch no matter how much you try.

So far I have only found one way around it and that is to install the game on XP, patch it, crack it, and copy the folder to a flash drive to play, or copy it to a machine running Vista/Win 7.

If you want to go through that process, here's what to do.

1. Install the game from the cd on a XP machine.

2. Download and install the patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=G9TLDG14
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/hupZdnKk/Indigo_Prophecy_Patch11.html
EU
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1TY6L6BB
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/D_UUFfJr/Fahrenheit_Patch1_1.html

3. Download the no-cd crack:
US
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DFQGJGZC
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/SM9ckiy8/IndigoProphecyCR.html
EU
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5R73D7N0
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/zOqhOq5d/FahrenheitCR.html

4. Go to the game's install directory (usually C:/Program Files/Atari/Fahrenheit/) and replace the game exe with the one in the zip.

5. Copy the Fahrenheit folder to a flash drive.

Alternatively you can download this:
http://www.dl.yagami-sama.co.uk/cgi-bin/schlabo/dl.pl?Fahrenheit

It has been patched and cracked already. There is a reg file in there, just in case the game doesn't run, but its only rarely that it is needed. Just extract to wherever you want and play.

It is the EU version. Don't know if thats important, but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Spore Bad_Data Fix

So, you've been playing Spore, and got to the space stage, only to find that all your planets and system are called BAD_DATA. Great!

This only seems to happen on the English version of the game, and only from 1.04 onwards. It is a problem where the game hasn't created the namegeneration package, so can't generate names properly.

Note: If you have saved the game in the space stage this will not help, as the game has already attempted to generate names for planets and failed. So you might have to start a new game.

1. Install the game from the dvd, and any add-ons and expansion packs if you have them.

2. Download and install the 1.05.1 patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PXMQEH8E
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/omU_AKqa/spore_dd_patch_all_v5_1.html

3. Go to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Data\Locale\en-us. In there is a file called NameGeneration.package, copy it and paste it to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Data\Locale\en-gb

This should stop the problem from happening.

Sims 3 Late Night Crash Fix

So you've just installed the new EP, whats the first thing you're gonna do? With this way you can either go the free route or the $10 route, the $10 route obviously having benefits like audio and texture enhancements you download, which to be honest isn't bad for $10.

1. Download VDMSound:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TFHTOZA0
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/eVCgQ0Ye/vdmsound210.html

2. Install VDMSound (choosing the complete setup) and restart your system.

3. Download Tomb Raider Advanced Installer:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=IBMH7VK0
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/lkexBchH/tr1advinst.html

4. Put the Tomb Raider cd in your cd drive. Exit out of any autorun stuff it throws up.

5. Run the advanced installer. Pick Tomb Raider from the two options in Step 1 then click Next. You will have to go through this twice if you plan on installing Unfinished Business (picking Tomb Raider Gold instead).

6. In Step 2 choose what you will be running the game with. Glidos costs $10 to unlock fully, dgVoodoo is free but has less oportunity for enhancements, and finally the original exe. I suggest choosing one of the first two. Click Next when you've made a choice.

7. If you chose dgVoodoo in Step 2 you'll get a Step 2a. Select either 1.31 or 1.40, I chose 1.40. This works fine for me, however if it gives you problems you can run the installation again and choose 1.31. Then click Next.

8. Step 3 sets up VDMSound. Select the option to let the installer configure your soundcard. Then select the IRQ7 option, this works for most computers, but if you have no sound when running the game later run the installer again and select the IRQ5 option. Clicking Next will start the installation.

9. Step 5 is the last step. If you chose Glidos originally select the option to create a PIF file, then click Finish. If you chose dgVoodoo select the option to create a shortcut, and if you have an ATI graphics card select to disable dgVoodoo vdd mode, then click Finish.
Note: To play the game in disabled vdd mode, double click the icon for it that the program created (this brings up a pop-up box), then double click the icon for the game. Don't close that pop-up box until you have finished playing Tomb Raider.

Mass Effect Noveria Lift Workaround

Imagine, you're playing Mass Effect, you get in a lift and press the button. Nothing happens, you can't move, and the lift won't move either. This has happened to me too many times, for some odd reason only on Noveria. This helps.

1. Go to My Docs\BioWare\Mass Effect\Config and open BIOInput.ini in notepad (you might want to make a copy first as a backup).

2. find the line [Engine.Console] add the line ConsoleKey=Tilde under it. Save and close the ini.

Now everytime you get stuck in the lifts press the tilde key to bring up the console and do the following:

1. in the console type in ghost and press enter. Exit the console (escape). You still won't be able to move, but thats not important.

2. Bring up the console again, type in walk and press enter. If you have the retail version download and install the patch (the Sold Out version is already patched):
UK
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D74W66CJ
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/LwtzSmAg/hitman_sp1aUK.html

US
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8AGCQ85V
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/nNfav5Jq/hitman_sp1.html

3. Run the game setup, either from the start menu shortcut or the exe in the game install folder (usually C:\Program Files\Eidos Interactive\IO Interactive\Hitman - Codename 47).

4. In the Available Renderers drop-down box select OpenGL and your resolution.

This should fix the random crashing issues.

Ultima IX: Ascension Stability Fix

Stability problems galore with this one, it either crashes somewhere in the game or won't even start. Thankfully this is easily fixed.

1. Install the game from the cd.

2. Download and install the official 1.18 patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XQTEO2RP
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/rzI155_z/u9patch118.html

3. Download and install the unofficial 1.19 patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4UWB8VK9
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/nSGFzz6r/u9ver119.html

The unofficial patch fixes the problems, as well as removing the cd protection and the "too many items" bug (if you've played this for any amount of time you'll know how annoying that is).

For windows Vista or 7 it might be a good idea to change the compatability to XP or even 98/ME.

---------------------------

Reply to Gruck

Sometimes the game is funny about installing, so there are two options for you to try. Keep in mind that I don't know if the game itself will work even if you get it to install, it wasn't made for 64-bit systems, so I can't say for sure.

1. put the cd in the drive and close the autorun

2. goto My Computer, right-click the cd drive and click Open

3. select the Setup.exe and SetupInstall.exe. Right-click and select Properties.

4. click the Compatability tab and select Windows 95 compatability.

Double clicking the setup.exe should now start the install.

Alternatively you can download my copy, which I rush installed the other day (it doesn't need the cd to run and it has both patches installed). You may want to change the screen resolution as it is set for mine (1440x900). To change this double-click the FinalSetup.exe, it allows you to change the settings. Don't change the textures from 16-bit though, as the others aren't installed and the game will not work.

Single zip:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A6S04YC9

Split rar:
http://www.4shared.com/file/RNwb9GKj/uixpart1.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/8RrK1pT3/uixpart2.html
http://www.4shared.com/file/GgUFIZ7Y/uixpart3.html

Just unzip it to wherever you want it & play. You might need to change the compatability of it though (windows 95 or 98 or xp depending on how nice the game's feeling), but try running it first because you might not need to.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption Vienna Crash & Save Fix

Two problems with the same fix, so I've bulked them together. If you find that you can't overwrite saves, or if the game crashes when you try to go to Vienna, then try this. It fixed my problem.

1. First download and install the patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XG08Z1RC
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/-UVihOB9/VampirePatch.html

2. Find the install folder (usually C:\Program Files\Vampire The Masquerade - Redemption).

3. Right-click the folder and click Properties. In the properties box click Advanced (in the attributes section). Make sure "For fast searching, allow indexing service to index this folder" is ticked. Then click ok. If you are asked make sure it is applied to all sub-folders.

4. Make sure that the Indexing Service is set to automatic. To check this click start then run. In the run box type in services.msc and press enter. Scroll down the list to find the Indexing Services.

Doing this should stop any problems.

Sims 3 store items/cc not installing fix

Store items and cc not installing is a problem that I have had since way back in patch 1.8, but I have finally found a way to completely fix this issue, thanks to a nifty little program I found. So I'm sharing the solution.

Please note that this method changes the content in such a way that it is classed as a completely different item. Because of this any saves using the store items/cc (that were previously installed but no longer work) may not work properly after doing this. To get around this run the game, load the save and change all the items for default ones. This lessens your chances of it breaking your saves. Also back-up the save folder, just in case.

1. Download the TG Unblocker:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6QFXQGP5
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/AzqSiPKn/TG_Unblock.html

2. In the zip is a folder called TG_Unblock, put this on the desktop.

3. Copy all of your downloaded .Sims3Pack files into that folder. If the items are from the store you will find them in the Sims 3 save folder in a folder called Downloads.

4. Run the Unblock.exe. Wait until it is finished and press any key to exit the program.

5. Copy all the .Sims3Pack files into the Downloads folder in the Sims 3 saves folder (Usually My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Downloads).

They should all now install successfully via the game launcher.

Unreal Tournament 2004 DVD Needed Fix

After the patch UT2k4 should not need the DVD anymore, but I've found that this isn't always the case. Save the file and close it.

The game should now run.

RealMyst End of Game Crash Fix

At the end of RealMyst (giving the page over) it crashes with a bink32w.dll error. This isn't a problem with the game or the dll, but a corrupted video. To fix it is simple.

1. Download Indeo Video codecs:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1LZ8KQKZ
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/pyTAQUCM/iv5setup.html
Install them. Sometimes one works, sometimes the other, so I'm listing both. I prefer the second way because its easier, and it works more often than not.

First Way:

1. Install the game from the CD. Only the game. It will ask to install a version of quicktime and direct x, say no to both of these.

2. Go to the Control Panel (start menu >> control panel), and double click the Quicktime icon. This brings up the Quicktime properties.

3. Click on the Advanced tab and tick the box next to Safe Mode. Then click ok.

4. Right click on the game shortcut on the start menu and click Properties.

5. In the Compatability tab tick the boxes next to Run in 256 colors, Run in 640 x 480 resolution and Disable visual themes. Then click ok.

The game should run without a problem now, however if it doesn't, or it crashes often try the second way.

Second Way:

1. Uninstall the version of Quicktime you have.

2. Install the game from the CD. Also install the Quicktime version when asked, but not the direct x.

The game should now work without problems.

Assassin's Creed 2 DLC enabled

Not a fix, but I thought someone might be interested in it. This is how to get the DLC temples and Altair outfit. *Please note: you must be using an offline fix to use this.*

1. Go to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\storage
There will be another folder in there so open that. Now there may or may not be another folder, if there is open that, if not, don't worry.

2. Download this:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z60X8ENH
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/KwamyB9X/AC2_DLC_Enable.html

3. In the zip is save game data.
If you have played the game before you may already have saves in the folder you are in. Even if you haven't saved in all the slots in-game, the game does not always save in order, so check the size of the saves. The largest will have save data in them. If the one that has save data in is the same as the save number in the zip, just rename the one in the zip to the next number. Then copy the saves into the folder.
If you haven't played the game just copy the save into the folder.

Start your game again, load any save, or start a new game and you will now have the content.

Assassin's Creed 2 Offline Fix

If, like me, you're sick of being kicked out of your single player game because Ubisoft's servers are full of fail, there is a solution.

1. Go to C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher.

5. Back-up ubiorbitapi_r2.dll, the easiest way is to put it in a zip file.

6. Copy the contents of the zip into the game launcher folder. (If you use AVG turn it off. Click yes to replace/overwrite all the files.

8. Now choose your renderer. They are pretty much the same, but some find that one works better than the other.
Direct3D9:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UXSFVPHN
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/BWcjgxLS/utd3d9r11.htmll
OpenGL:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=K5R0ESO0
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/wa_gkYKD/utglr35.html
Whichever one you choose put the files in the zip into the UT System folder (C:/Program Files/Unreal Tournament/System/)

9. Start the game. On First-Time Configuration screen be sure to select show all devices. Select OpenGL or Direct3D9 (depending on which renderer you chose). This can always be changed later in-game from the options menu (options >> preferences >> video).

*You can either do the next part manually by editing the UnrealTournament.ini (in the system folder) or in-game.*

In-Game

1. Press the ~ key to bring up the console and type in preferences and press enter.

2. The Advanced Options panel opens. Set the game as seen in the following screenshots:

Under Advanded >> Game Engine Settings set CacheSizeMegs to 16

Display

Rendering - OpenGL or Direct3D (Same settings for both options)

Note: OpenGL - if you configure your video settings under Advanced Options and try to return into game the game might exit with an error message. This does not lose your settings and once restarted the game will work fine.

UnrealTournament.ini

1. Go to the System folder (C:/Program Files/Unreal Tournament/System/) and open the UnrealTournament.ini in notepad. (you might want to back up the file first)

2. Edit the following sections (// are just comments and can be removed):

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
WindowedViewportX=640
WindowedViewportY=480
Postal 2, Postal 2 Share The Pain, and Postal 2 ApocalypseWeekend Vista Play Fix

This does not apply to the games in the Postal Fudge Pack

They all install...but can't run afterwards....reason being the version of Starforce (the cd validation/protection software) on the CD doesn't work with Vista...

To fix it you can try installing the updated version of the driver: http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/....but why would you want to do that when theres a more permenent fix that works for everyone.

1. First make sure your game is patched....download one of the following (depending on your game):
Postal 2 1337 patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DKY2S8B3
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/fUjgZ7R4/postal2v1337.html
Postal 2 Share The Pain 1409 patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2GZMQL4K
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/LgRDBWHc/postal2stp1409.html
Postal 2 Apocalypse Weekend 1411 Patch:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=A4ZCVJZD
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/d5bioACF/postal2aw_v1411.html

2. Download one of these...again depending on your game:
Postal 2 Fixed:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=XE3IAC72
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/d2_huv8q/Postal21337.html
Postal 2 Share The Pain Fixed:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FOPYSHX4
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/hF_wofqp/Postal21409.html
Postal 2 Apocalypse Weekend Fixed:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MFT26J45
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/oRs3AoyI/Postal2AW.html

3. Go to the install folder (usually c:/program files/postal2/system/ or c:/program files/postal2stp/system/ or c:/program files/postal2/ApocalypseWeekend/System/)...copy the fixed files from the zip into the folder...if you are asked to replace click yes.

If you have Share The Pain and Apocalypse Weekend for example you will need to do it for both.

Black and White 2 Vista Tiger Problem

The Tiger installer (which comes with the bonus edition or pre-ordered copy) does not work under Vista....There is only one way around this and that is to "borrow" a save game from someone...just so happens I have one.

Before you use the save make sure you patch your game because it was made with both patches installed and using it without them could crash the game.

Patch 1.1:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=FWN0PGQ7
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/9L95D1it/bw2patch1_1.html
Patch 1.1 to 1.2:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Y95VPG0C
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/Jxi82Bz5/bw2patch12.html

To install the save:

1. In the Tiger zip is a folder called "2"...you can change the number if you have other saves...but don't name it "1" because the game uses that for autosaving...Anyway put the 2 folder in your saves folder (usually documents/Black & White 2/Profiles/~Player/Saved Games..."~Player" being your profile name).

To use it:

Run the game...load your profile and then load the save...It should be called Tiger...or something along those lines.

Black and White 2 Nvidia Performance Fix

A while ago I owned an Nvidia card and had trouble with this game...but I found running the game on its medium (mid) or low settings would stop the lagging and sound problems.

If the mid settings don't help performance - Click the Custom check-box and use the settings below
Blooming = low
Shadows = off
Vegetation = low/mid
sea = low/mid
Antialiasing = low/mid
Distortion = off
Fur = on

Also using the "-minspec" handle on the shortcut to the game also helps....to do this:

1. Download and unzip this:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1MGHUHVD
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/jFvgM5Bv/scarexplorer10.html

2. Run the program and go look for 00audio.rcf (in the prototype install folder)...click Extract and then All Files....choose to extract everything to your desktop.

3. Do the same for 01audio.rcf 01woi.rcf 02woi.rcf 03woi.rcf and 00woi.rcf...this will take some time.

4. You should now have 2 folders on your desktop...Audio and Movies...Open the audio folder and cut everything in there.

5. Now open the Prototype install folder and paste everything into the Audio folder....if it asks you to overwrite click "yes".

6. Cut the movies folder on your desktop and paste it into your Prototype install folder.

7. Rename all the files you extracted (00audio.rcf 01audio.rcf 01woi.rcf 02woi.rcf 03woi.rcf and 00woi.rcf) so they are called something different...even if its just adding a letter somewhere.

8. Go into the audio folder and delete the ambience.p3d.

Try your game...if the problem is solved then stop now...if it isn't continue.

9. Download this replacement dll...it normalises the sound levels in the game...but for me also removed the crackling permenently:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=0HGOPJLM
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/GNkd7lR6/prototypeenginef.html

10. Go into the Prototype install folder and rename prototypeenginef.dll...just so you have a backup...then copy the fixed prototypeenginef.dll in the zip into the folder.

That fixed my problems.

Sims 3 World Adventures Random Crash Fix

The reason why this game crashes so often is because it doesn't have a frame rate limit...basically what that means to you is its trying to fry your graphics card...literally...and therefore crashes the game or your system...or causes a black/blue screen error...don't we just love those??

A way to get around it is to use a frame rate limiter.

Here's one I use...because its easy:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6UUO2IV1
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/y7FNVnKx/FPS_Limiter_02.html

1. To use it unzip it...double click the FPS_Limiter_GUI.jar...browse for World Adventures exe (usually C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures\Game\Bin\TS3EP01.exe).

2. set your maximum fps to at least 60.

3. First download and install the installer helper (http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=344611)...restart your system when it asks you to.

If you own World Adventures you need to copy the resources.cfg and Mods folder from C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 to C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures

2. Open the launcher and go through the installed content list deleting Riverview and all its objects...these are:
-Riverview - World
-Lotsa Lumber by Faux Pas Furnishings - Buy Object
-Checkered Silo - Buy Object
-Round Water Trough - Buy Object
-Not-So-Little Boxes - Buy Object
-Long Water Trough - Buy Object
-Sunflower Spa - Build Object
-Leftovers by Faux Pas Furnishings - Buy Object
-Mr. Turnwillow - Buy Object
-Wildly Western Door - Build Object
-Overalls with Long Sleve Shirt (x4) - Full Outfit
-Trulong Community School - Build Object
-City Hall - Build Object
-County Care General Hospital - Build Object
-Rock of Ancients - Build Object
-"Contented Cow" Advertisement - Buy Object
-Ye Olde Water Tower - Buy Object
-Solitude - Buy Object
-No Fishing! - Buy Object
-Athletic Announcement Sign - Build Object
-Doo Peas Corporate Towers - Build Object
-Water Tower with Checkered Border - Build Object
-Soll and Water Research Facility - Build Object
-Fort Salas Military Base - Build Object

3. Close the launcher and go into the save folder (usually my documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3)....copy the DCCache folder....open the game's install folder (usually C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 or C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures for the EP)...open the Mods folder....and then paste the DCCache into the Packages folder

4. Go back into the main install folder (C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 or C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3 World Adventures for the EP)...in there will be something called Resource.cfg...open it using notepad....below the last line copy and paste the text below:

PackedFile Mods/Packages/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*.dbc
PackedFile Mods/Packages/*/*/*/*/*.dbc

5. Save the Resource.cfg and close the folder

6. Go into the save folder again (usually my documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3) and delete the DCCache, DCBackup, InstalledWorlds and SigsCache folders

7. Either re-download Riverview using the launcher...or download here (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PUNWM9K7 or http://www.4shared.com/file/GIqbyO6b/Riverview.html) if you don't want to sign in to the sims 3 site....when the download is complete install it as usual.

Note: The DCCache, DCBackup, InstalledWorlds and SigsCache folders will be re-created now...leave them there...otherwise it won't work.

It might be an idea to restart windows after all that....you know....just to make sure.....but after custom content and Riverview should turn up just fine.

Thief 2: The Metal Age Movie/Crash Fix

Another game where the movies cause a crash...or simply don't work...this kinda ruins the game experience...

I have only tried this in XP...but I am sure it will work for other versions of Windows....

1. Install the game from the CD.

2. This is the video codec needed to play the movies...so download it:
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=1LZ8KQKZ
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/TjMx1qaj/2362_iv5setup.html

3. Download the official 118 patch:
(Budget Buy Version)
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4QV8L29J
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/Vr6KiGZ9/t2patch107_118.html
(Retail Version/Sold Out Version)
Mirror 1: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=401LKFG5
Mirror 2: http://www.4shared.com/file/5BvgJ6RK/thf2v118.html

5. Install the patch.

4. Open the CD...Somewhere in there is a folder called Movies...copy everything in there.

5. Open your install folder (usually C:/Program Files/Thief2)...and paste the movies in the movies folder.

7. In the install folder is a file called install.cfg...open it with notepad.

8. Remove all references to your CD drive
e.g movie_path C:\Program Files\Thief2+D:\movies = movie_path C:\Program Files\Thief2

Here is how mine reads as a reference:

install_path C:\Program Files\Thief2
language english
resname_base C:\Program Files\Thief2\res
load_path C:\Program Files\Thief2
script_module_path C:\Program Files\Thief2
movie_path C:\Program Files\Thief2\movies

Notice how I removed the CD_Path line...this makes the game not need the CD at all (no I never thought it would be that simple either).

Remember to save the file.

9.
